About
the Triangle Club
All the performers as well as everyone else
involved in the production of the yearly Melodrama are volunteers from
the Julian community. The Triangle Club, a women’s group, which began in
1942, wanted to raise money for local charities by doing something a
little more interesting than the usual “bake sales”. They began by
putting on regular plays in the high school gymnasium using local
talent. In 1956 they put on their first old-time Melodrama. The
Melodrama remains their main fund-raiser. The proceeds provide partial
college scholarships for many local graduates and monetary support for
community sports, drama, Scouting programs, 4-H, underprivileged
children and other philanthropic endeavors for the town. They bring
Santa to the Town Hall in December, and participate in the annual Fourth
of July Parade. The Triangle Club takes an active part in the Julian
community year-round.
